Runaway Train on a Western Pennsylvania Line
The Engineer Jumped and was Badly Hurt
Ligonier, Pa., June 28. On the Pittsburg, Westmoreland and Somerset railroad, three miles east of here, today, a log train ran away at Laurel Hill, a steep grade, and Will Duncan, the engineer, jumped while the train was going at a frightful speed, breaking his leg. Patrick OBrien, the conductor, is badly hurt, also Brakeman Green. The runaway train ran several miles, when it left the track, breaking up several cars and wrecking the engine.
