July 4, 1900

W. B. Duncan, a son of Mr. and Mrs. William Duncan, of Blairsville, an engineer of the Pittsburg, Westmoreland and Somerset Railroad, while coming down the mountain about seven miles from Ligonier, crashed into the rear end of a freight train. Three trainmen were injured. One of Mr. Duncans legs was so injured as to require amputation.
