A Famous Run
An Excellent Record For Fast Running
Engineer Daniels of the Pittsburg, Westmoreland and Somerset railroad, made a famous run last Wednesday. The Echo Scribe was informed of the fast run that engineer Daniels made with his engine and ten log cars, a run of over eight miles in a little less than twenty-five minutes from the steep mountains above Rector to the L.V.R.R. station at Ligonier. Engineer Daniels had a passenger who wanted to make the 4:40 passenger train on the L.V.R.R. for Latrobe, and he had just twenty-five minutes from where he started to land his passenger in time for the passenger train on the L.V.R.R. This is considered a record breaker for fast running considering the shape the road bed of the P. W. & S. is now in, as it is just a new road over which trains have been running only a few weeks.
