New Railroad
Will Evidently Be Built From Ligonier To Coal Field Soon
As recently stated in the Echo a new railroad is being surveyed from town to the coal regions north of town under the direction of the Soxman (sic) Coal company of near Latrobe. The survey made passed up Millcreek from just west of Ligonier station to near the Denny Morningside farm in a direct line, then curves to the left of Oak Grove and passes up Hannah's Run to near the Tosh farm where it goes up the right branch of this run to the farms of Irwin Ross and Mr. Wyland where it is said the mines will be opened.
The papers for the right away are made out and a survey of right away will be made out at once and the options on the coal land secured this month. It is believed that this road is an assured thing and that it will be built and the coal field developed this coming summer. Mr. Soxman is a practical coal man who understands the business and if he has decided to take hold of the matter it will be a success.
