Avalanche of Stone Fell
Latrobe, June 1. A bin, at the stone quarries of Booth & Flinn, at McCance, on the Ligonier Valley railroad, collapsed and 25 or 30 workmen barely escaped with their lives. This huge bin, having a capacity of 250 carloads of stone, contained at the time of its collapse 50 cars of ballast. The mass crashed down the side of the mountain 200 feet to the tracks of the Ligonier Valley railroad. The loss will reach $10,000. Operation at the quarries are entirely suspended.
