Divers At Latrobe
Examining The Break In Pip Of Coal Mine
Last week two divers arrived from New York and after donning their queer habiliments descended into the South Side shaft of the Loyalhanna Coal Co., near Latrobe, and examined the break in the pipe from which the mine was flooded. From their examination a very accurate knowledge of the break was obtained and the next thing will be to remedy it in order to get the pumps cleared for action.
The mines were flooded by a large main breaking. Two of the mines of the company have been idle since the accident.
One of the divers struck against a pick and his suit was punctured. It was necessary to procure another suit before he could again descend.
A number of people about Latrobe interested in how diving is done viewed the peculiar looking suits with considerable interest.
