A New Enterprise
Blue Rock And Coal Of The Mountain To Be Developed
A new business enterprise as one of the results of the new railroad into the mountain beyond Mechanicsburg or Rector is one of the almost certainties of the near future. There are rich deposit of blue rock, coal, limestone and some other minerals in the mountain south of Rector along the line of the new railroad. All the deposits of mineral need is development to prove their richness.
A party of gentlemen interested in the new railroad, the Byers-Allen Lumber Co., and in the development of the mountain resources in company with John Anderson, of town, formerly superintendent of the Childs stone quarries at Baker's station were in the mountain beyond Rector last Monday examining the veins of blue rock, coal and other minerals. They were well pleased with the rich deposits. The prospects are that both the blue rock and the coal will be developed in the very near future. It is said that the Booth
& Flinn people will be interested in the enterprise. We have heard it frequently stated that the blue rock of the mountain beyond Rector is superior to that of the McCance quarries. The additional distance to Pittsburgh would not effect the success of the enterprise in the least.
