John W. Rhay, the hustling section foreman of the Ligonier Valley railroad, is now taking advantage of the nice weather and is putting his road-bed in good shape. They have put 400 new ties in along the road. He had fifteen men at work last Wednesday. Our reporter was informed by Mr. Rhay that he laid 1,620 feet of steel rails with fifteen men in five hours one day in the month of October, 1897. He has fifty-four switches to look after all the year round.
