Samuel French, an engineer on the Ligonier Valley road, says the Greensburg Tribune, has invented a contrivance by which a coach tank of the Westinghouse air-brake can be filled while the brake is drawn. In the Westinghouse brake it is necessary to throw the brake off to fill the tank when the air supply becomes exhausted. Frenchs improvement will fill the tanks while the brakes are drawn and does away with all danger. He has obtained a patent and has one on his engine. The Westinghouse Company and the P.R.R. Company are trying to obtain control of the improvement.
