Ho, For Idlewild
The new Idlewild which is located in our valley on the line of the Ligonier Valley railroad is a place of unsurpassed attraction. The natural beauty and resources of this grove cannot be equaled. Set in between towering, wooded hills, forming part of Chestnut Ridge, and adorned with all the beauties of the wild forest, shady avenues, saying nothing of the artificial effects, Lake St. Clair, mammoth pavilions, ball and tennis courts, et cetera, it is a perfect wonderland.
The picnic season will be formally opened on Decoration Day, May 30, for the season of 1894, the occasion being the Stationary Engineers Annual Outing. The Pennsylvania railroad will run special trains leaving Union Station, Pittsburgh, at 8:00, 8:10 and 9:10 A.M., stopping at East Liberty, Homewood, Wilkinsburg, Braddock, Turtle Creek, Wilmerding, Larimer, Irwin, Manor, Penn, Jeannette and Greensburg. The special excursion rate is seventy-five cents for adults, fifty cents for children, under twelve years from Pittsburgh (corresponding low rates east) good only on special trains. An enjoyable time is offered to all who may take advantage of this excursion.
