Killed On The Railroad
On last Thursday night the last picnic train to Latrobe about 10 o'clock ran over and killed Barney Kearn, of Booth & Flinn stone quarries. He in company with some other Irishmen were in town and had been on a drunk all day, and well filled up started to walk down the railroad for the quarries, but becoming "tired" lay down along the road just below the Mill Creek bridge, Kearn on the track. The train came along, ran over him cutting off both legs, fracturing his skull and otherwise mutilating him. He was not discovered until the next morning when he was found laying along side the track dead. He was 52 years old and unmarried. His body was taken to the undertaking rooms of C. A. Lowry, where it was examined Friday 12th by Coroner Dr. Wakefield and ordered to be buried Saturday morning which was done.
