Long Bridge
Alex. McCance, the manager of the Booth & Flinn stone quarries, has been on the sick list for about three weeks suffering from a bealing in his head. He is somewhat better and expects to be able in a short time to see after the many interests of the firm.
A vast improvement is about being made at the Long Bridge quarries. It is said that Booth & Flinn have concluded to put in new machinery to the amount of $30,000, and will employ from 400 to 600 men during the summer.
The new railroad bridge which is under contract to cross the Loyalhanna and connect with the L.V.R.R. is to be iron and strong enough to carry a load drawn by the heaviest P.R.R. engine. The bridge will be over 200 feet long, supported by a number of piers. The work is already being pushed rapidly.
Everybody here is getting ready for a busy time as soon as the weather will permit the commencing of active operations.
