An Indication of Summer Travel
As an indication of what the proportions of the rush out of this city and from other points in section will be when the picnic season opens, it may be mentioned that Chief Clerk Sansome of the Pennsylvanias western district passenger agency in this city, estimates that fully 50,000 people will this season visit Idlewild, the summer resort which the Pennsylvania Railroad Company is making a specialty of in this section.
He bases his estimates on comparative figures. Last year 38 excursions were run to Idlewild and 30,000 visitors picnicked there. Thirty-five excursions, some of them very large ones, have already been booked, and as dates are eagerly sought, the remaining 15 will be taken. On these 50 excursions there will be nearly 50,000 people go to Idlewild.
