Actual footage from the Wilpen, PA coke ovens. On a cold winter day back in 1940, Pete Picadio, a life-long resident of Wilpen and Ligonier, took his 8mm movie camera to Wilpen and filmed the mining and coke oven operations at the Baton mine. We have preserved this 10 minute historical record on DVD so future generations can witness what these people had to endure to survive and support their families during a very difficult time in our country's history.
